Clarification on Washington State Games – Restricted and Non-Restricted Events

In SGA restricted the elements can be no higher than those listed and the penalties for elements above level are severe. In SGA unrestricted the skater must not exceed the test level but can do whatever the skater can manage. Those who skate in the restricted event will qualify for the same event at SGA. The skater has to elect one or the other and can't do both. There are a lot of skaters who do not test up to their real skating ability and coaches need to be aware that unrestricted really is unrestricted. Additionally, if you qualify in one event, such as freestyle, you can enter any event at National State Games in San Diego 2011.
